A blog post to show of my purchases and faves from the 2018 sheep and wool festival -- My Workbasket

How has it been more than 12 days and I haven’t managed to tell you about the Sheep and Wool Festival?!?!?! Well, I know the real reason why, but it’s still surprising! The real reason is that I took a few quick photos of my purchases to show them off to some friends (and I think on Instagram) but never time to actually photograph them well to show you. Which is wrong, because you’re my friends too, and you deserved better. I just wanted to give you quality shots so you can drool over the pretty stuff. Truth be told some of the photos stillRead More →

Unboxing video for the Faber-Castell Gelatos set! From My Workbasket

I mentioned recently that I went to the craft store, and even that I had an unboxing to do. If you don’t follow me over on  Youtube you may have missed some of the fun! I do post a few videos on my channel there that I don’t share here. One was the recent Craft Store Haul, where I posted everything I bought! If you did miss it, you can go check it out (and subscribe to be notified of the Youtube videos I do) One of the things I bought, the item that needed an unboxing was the Faber-Castell Gelatos (are you surprised?!?! Did theRead More →

How to use the Fiskars Boxmaker to make quick custom envelopes, boxes, and adorable bows! -- My Workbasket

Quite a while ago I got a goody box from Fiskars. I was sent the goodies for free but was under no obligation to tell you about them. However, I KNEW I would love this tool so I recorded an unboxing video and a how-to video. The problem was that something was wrong with the how-to, it needed to be re-recorded. It took forever to get time to record it all again. Problem is, in the time it took to make the how-to videos again the unboxing video was deleted! My husband forgot that one was good and erased it. So I don’t have anRead More →

Beautiful, colorful, large roving braids from Needleclicks Etc

Last weekend it was a quilt show and this weekend a fiber festival! I’m very lucky to live in a place where stuff like this happens fairly frequently. The best part of this festival, well besides the festival itself, was the location! About 30 minutes or so away (blasted traffic! sometimes it’s 30, sometimes it’s less, sometimes it’s twice as long) is this historic mill. It has been restored and is now the coolest shopping destination I’ve ever seen! I love this place, and dream of one day having a shop/studio there. Here is the link to the Mill if you want to read andRead More →

A quick trial painting to test my new Gouache! A new to me medium that I am not super in love with!-- My Workbasket

Recently I have been watching quite a few videos over at Creativebug (affiliate link, I make a few bucks if you sign up, which I recommend because it is awesome and I LOVE it!) and several videos of illustrations that I liked used Goache. (pronounced like squash) I don’t have any gouache (well, actually I may have a cheap pack somewhere, but that is irrelevant because I wanted to buy art supplies and wanted to set myself up for success with quality paint) so I started shopping. First I put together a massive shopping basket, then I whittled it down, then I filled it again,Read More →

An honest review of the Knook from Leisure Arts. Can you really knit with a crochet hook? -- My Workbasket

I’ve mentioned several times that I’ve been trying the Knook from Leisure Arts. I was provided a The Knook Value Pack and Cozy Knits with the Knook book, for free at my request. I’ve been working with it for awhile. I think I got my items at the end of September or the beginning of October. I’ve used them multiple times a week since. I’ve been working hard to really bring the best, most thorough Knook review that I can. Here’s the rub: The hooks in this particular kit are plastic, and not the most impressive quality of plastic, BUT it is an amazing valueRead More →

Some pages from my sketchbook for the week. Trying to be creative every day! -- My Workbasket

It’s that time again! Let’s talk about life! Parenting- I don’t usually say to much about parenting, because honestly this blog is to give me something else to think about, talk about, and focus on, BUT this week. I swear my child has not shut up for at least 7 days straight. I locked myself in the bathroom and he just stood on the other side of the door talking to me the entire time I was in there. He has some various special needs that cause this sort of thing. Just, oh man, there is not enough coffee for this. It’s affected my productivityRead More →

Some items that I talk about in my Weekly Workbasket this week at My Workbasket

I can’t believe it is almost August! I’ve turned 34, my sweet niece is about to turn 10, and school supplies are in the stores. Craziness! I also have so many projects that I never got to talk about in July! So many! Most of them were for Christmas in July, so now I’ll probably save them for actual Christmas and talk about them then. Let’s talk about my Weekly Workbasket though. Read More →

A Happy Accident Recently I attempted to order a back up set of Denise Interchangeable Knitting Needles and accidentally ordered the Denise Crochet set by mistake. I wasn’t upset though, the crochet set had been on my wish list for some time, so I considered it a happy accident. I was just leery about how often I’d use them and so I kept putting off ordering them. I already have tons of crochet hooks, and ordered a set of basic Tunisian hooks with long cords, so the Denise set was just sort of an extra. Truth be told though the long cords get in theRead More →

Every week I discuss what I'm working on how it's going and what I'm up to. --My Workbasket

It’s May 28th I have had the best day! Earlier I took my son and two friends to a local school and randomly bumped into a local guy who is a Guinness World Record holder! He is on for something bike related and put on quite a show for us when I asked if that was him. The new book comes out in August and I have a feeling we’ll be buying it and then carrying it around hoping for another encounter and a chance to get an autograph! It was really cool. My family also went out and visited a local comic book store,Read More →

My love of vintage doesn’t stop with just magazines, or textiles, or housewares, it really just goes on and on. I also love and tend to acquire vintage craft tools.I often  browse ebay for random lots of vintage supplies. Sometimes I get a real winner. Recently on ebay I won a lot of “vintage rugmaking tools,” but like most people they didn’t know what they had. This particular lot was about half craft, and half other.  Two of these items belong in a kitchen. Do you know which ones?!? Three would be near a closet, dresser, or shoe rack.  Two I feel certain are actuallyRead More →

My favorite gadget for making perfect pom-poms! Affordable, super easy to use and makes amazing poms!-- My Workbasket

When I started this blog I had a feeling I’d have several projects that needed pompoms (then here it is three months in and not a single pompom required) and I ordered a set of pompom makers. I figured a good set would help make me a bit faster than other methods, and would keep the blog projects rolling along. I ordered this set for around $6-7 on Amazon. There are several listings for a set of four, I’m sure any of them would be comparable. The shipping was a bit slower than prime, but faster than forever. Funny fact, they’re labeled “knitting loom” butRead More →
