Great new book from Michael Delman about helping your child with their executive function issues.

Do you know what executive function is? I’ll be honest, lots of people don’t and you usually only know the term after it’s a problem. When it’s a problem it’s a BIG problem, a parental tear your hair out nightmare. SO first, let me explain executive function, then I’ll tell you WHY I’m talking about executive function.Read More →

Great summer reads for boys, books suggestions right off of an 11 year old's summer reading stack!

Hey! Are you enjoying your summer so far!?!?! I feel like ours has been a whirlwind, and is rushing away from us. I’m already starting to buy school supplies and pick the curriculum for next year.  We won’t be starting until after Labor Day, so we still have plenty of time left, but I bet it’ll pass too fast. Before summer completely gets away from us I wanted to show you what is on my Son’s summer reading stack! Some of these are new releases that we chose to review (they were sent to us free in exchange) some are just things my son hasRead More →

How to use the Fiskars Boxmaker to make quick custom envelopes, boxes, and adorable bows! -- My Workbasket

Quite a while ago I got a goody box from Fiskars. I was sent the goodies for free but was under no obligation to tell you about them. However, I KNEW I would love this tool so I recorded an unboxing video and a how-to video. The problem was that something was wrong with the how-to, it needed to be re-recorded. It took forever to get time to record it all again. Problem is, in the time it took to make the how-to videos again the unboxing video was deleted! My husband forgot that one was good and erased it. So I don’t have anRead More →

My First Sampler Afghan Block- The Double Parallelogram- From the Leisure Arts Sampler Afghan Book-- My Workbasket

I’ve worked with Leisure Arts before, especially on the Knook review, and have teamed up with them again! I was so excited that they were willing to send me this book, Knit Sampler Afghans, which combines 60 pattern blocks to make awesome sampler afghans. UPDATE- 12/04/2018- It appears this book is now out of print. Any links contained here no longer work and I can’t find it on their website. If you ever see a copy anywhere I advise grabbing it! For many years this book was on my wishlist, but I felt it was beyond me, and that I wouldn’t finish it because I wasRead More →

An honest review of the Knook from Leisure Arts. Can you really knit with a crochet hook? -- My Workbasket

I’ve mentioned several times that I’ve been trying the Knook from Leisure Arts. I was provided a The Knook Value Pack and Cozy Knits with the Knook book, for free at my request. I’ve been working with it for awhile. I think I got my items at the end of September or the beginning of October. I’ve used them multiple times a week since. I’ve been working hard to really bring the best, most thorough Knook review that I can. Here’s the rub: The hooks in this particular kit are plastic, and not the most impressive quality of plastic, BUT it is an amazing valueRead More →

Here’s a few things you may not know about me- I am super cheapskate most of the time. It drives my husband crazy. Most of the crafts I know are self taught, or learned from a video or two. I did have a teacher for knitting and crochet, the basic stitches anyway, the rest I picked up. I don’t really like taking classes. I get bored, I don’t always learn much, I hate being shown things I already know and want to get to the good stuff.Read More →

Recently on a crochet group I’m in a designer asked for pattern testers and since I am a bit ahead on blog projects and had a light project load at the moment I volunteered. I had no idea what the project would be until she sent me the pattern, but I knew it was crochet, supposed to be quick, and used the colorful cake yarns so popular right now.  I was super surprised to get this adorable pattern for a Betta Fish Lovey!                Read More →

A Happy Accident Recently I attempted to order a back up set of Denise Interchangeable Knitting Needles and accidentally ordered the Denise Crochet set by mistake. I wasn’t upset though, the crochet set had been on my wish list for some time, so I considered it a happy accident. I was just leery about how often I’d use them and so I kept putting off ordering them. I already have tons of crochet hooks, and ordered a set of basic Tunisian hooks with long cords, so the Denise set was just sort of an extra. Truth be told though the long cords get in theRead More →

I’ve been crafting for most, dare I even say all, of my life, but truth be told I’m not very good about keeping up with my supplies. I can never find the right hook, or needle, or what have you, when I need it. I probably own 6 of them, but who knows where they are. It’s terrible I know, I’m working on it. When I started this blog I knew I needed to spend time on productivity, not time searching for materials, and I opted to buy a cheap set of crochet hooks. Since I know I own all the sizes (even invested inRead More →

My favorite gadget for making perfect pom-poms! Affordable, super easy to use and makes amazing poms!-- My Workbasket

When I started this blog I had a feeling I’d have several projects that needed pompoms (then here it is three months in and not a single pompom required) and I ordered a set of pompom makers. I figured a good set would help make me a bit faster than other methods, and would keep the blog projects rolling along. I ordered this set for around $6-7 on Amazon. There are several listings for a set of four, I’m sure any of them would be comparable. The shipping was a bit slower than prime, but faster than forever. Funny fact, they’re labeled “knitting loom” butRead More →
