Mini Mixed Media Houses

Copyright My Workbasket

Hi guys! It’s me! I’m back baby, yeah! This is the first new post on my renewed blog. I took a LOT of time off of blogging, over a year, and in the meantime ran a shop (and closed it) and started a vlog on Youtube. The way the new renewed blog will work is mostly going to be occasional project posts, often with links to youtube videos, plus more of my free patterns. If you like regular updates then I suggest you subscribe to my Youtube Channel, where I do regular chatty vlog updates. The website is going to have more of a focus on projects, tutorials, and patterns, and less general chatter than it did previously.

So let’s get this party started with these mini mixed media houses! You can see a detailed video about these houses. The video featured details of each house. For a general breakdown to skip the video, just keep reading.

I made these for an online class from Jennifer at The Maker Beehive. You can see it and her other classes HERE.

If you’re not interested in a full video here are just some photos for you. The three good houses shown below were mostly done with old book pages as the main paper. I did another house that I show in the video but didn’t complete because I’m just not a fan. It needs more work. The doors were all decoupaged on as were most of the bushes and the pink/purple windows. The yellow windows were painted on after the decoupaging was done and I did a quick sealer coat. The black outlines were done before decoupaging on the doors and one set of windows, but after all painting and such on the other windows and bushes. They are just a plain ol’ ballpoint pen! The pink trim and white picket fence were craft foam, just cut to shape and glued on with Sobo glue. Which I bought a giant bottle of from Wawak for next to nothing and am absolutely in love with. (Wawak by the way is my new absolute LOVE for all things sewing supplies. their prices absolutely can not be beaten!) The bushes were a combo of decoupage and painted on later, and most being decoupaged and then painted on for additional details like flowers, or just more texture. If you have any questions about how I did something just ask below in the comments. 🙂

I also created a separate video about how I made some of these papers! It’s quick and handy info for all papercrafts.

I’m also entering my finished houses in some online linkys (linkies?) and challenges. Which ones? Not sure yet! I’ll post them below as I figure that out. 🙂

I put a Linky in:
