When I recently got some new gelatos I knew I would be using them for all kinds of things. I saw a pack of simple “Thanks” cards in the value section at Michaels and one craft practically designed itself. I knew I would use the gelatos to take the simple plain cards and spice them up a notch with a handmade splash of color. My cards say “Thanks” but your cards can say anything at all, or even just be colorful and fun! These easy to make simple cards make it possible to whip up a bunch in just one sitting!
It’s great because you can easily spice up the cards with school colors, wedding colors, or pink/blue for baby showers! Of course, it works on any card, not just thank yous, so it’s great for all occasions!
Here’s a video of what I did!
In this video, I start with the basic cards I found but also tell easy ways to make it without finding premade simple cards.
I show two ways to use a stencil with gelatos, and a way to add a simple color wash! I also show what the Gelatos Mist looks like, though I decided not to spend a massive amount of time making a wash on the video. If you were making a variety of cards the wash is a fun and easy way to do lots at once! However, it isn’t as great for a single card for a tutorial video.
My cards are a cream color, but you could probably use colored cards! OR color on larger sheets of card stock, then cut it down and glue it to colored cards!
I know it is currently “Thank You” season with weddings, graduations, gifts for Teachers at the end of the school year, baby showers, and more. This is a great way to add a handmade touch without getting too detailed or expensive.
I always want to do better about sending cards in general and showing my appreciation. Admittedly, I am AWFUL at it. Maybe having some cute cards that are easy to grab and send will help?!
Here are some product recommendations for this project. These are affiliate links and if you make a purchase I will make a small commission at no cost to you
I'd love to know what you think about the cards or if you have any questions about gelatos! I have to ask, do YOU send thank you cards???
