A 1967 Tatted Edge- Bookmark

I spent some time trying to finish up some projects in my workbasket, and one of them was this tatted edge from the February 1967 issue. I do know how to tat, both needle and shuttle, but I admit I am not well practiced and I struggle. I’ve discovered if I really get myself mentally into it first I do better. I can pick up a knitting or crochet project and just take off, but with tatting that is not so. Knowing that I opted to keep this edging quite short, and only made about 6 inches worth. After finishing, I did a four strand braid on one end and it can be a bookmark.

  1. This is really pretty. I might have to try this one. I always carry a small tatting project in my purse for pickup moments. Helps to keep those skills sharp!

    1. I do attempt to have an easy project stuffed in my pocket when I know I’ll have down time. Doesn’t always work though. For some reason with Tatting I just really have to be into it, or I’ll make simple mistakes. Often times just flipping through a tatting book or catalog will help. Just get my brain thinking “tatting.”
